How credits and plans work

SomaLabs runs on one credit pool that images, video, and tools all draw from where your plan includes them. New accounts receive free credits after email verification. Paid plans add monthly credits plus access to features like video and the Planner, and you can top up anytime with credit packs.

Credits are the currency behind every generation, and SomaLabs keeps the system simple: one pool, one balance. This guide explains where your credits come from, how a single pool covers both image and video generation, and what moving up a plan actually changes.

One shared credit pool

Images, video, and reference-guided characters all draw from a single credit balance where your plan includes them, so there is no separate wallet to juggle for each kind of media. Different models and quality tiers cost different amounts, and the Generate button shows the cost before you commit, so you always know what an action will spend.

Free credits to start

New accounts receive their free starter credits after verifying their email address. That grant is enough to create your first character and run several generations so you can see how the studio works before deciding on a plan. It is a one-time welcome grant per account, not a recurring free allowance.

What paid plans add

  • A monthly pool of credits that refreshes each billing period.
  • Access to features your tier unlocks, such as video and the Planner.
  • Higher limits on characters, collections, and references per character.
  • A larger credit pool on higher tiers for bigger production runs.

Top up when you need more

If you run low between billing periods, credit packs let you add to your balance as a one-time purchase without changing your plan. Packs and monthly credits live in the same pool, so a top-up simply extends what you can already do. The pricing page lays out the monthly credit amounts for each plan and the available packs.
